The first session is about getting to know your history, what is currently going on, and your specific goals for counseling. We use Simple Practice to send paperwork and to conduct our sessions. We will review the paperwork and forms you filled out and answer any questions you may have.

Counseling is different for each person. Research has shown that counseling is effective for the treatment of various symptoms and circumstances. In fact, it shows that about 75% of people who enter counseling report it as beneficial. Counseling can be hard so it does take commitment and effort. The relationship between you and your clinician is imperative. If you are feeling on the fence about committing or whether or not now is the time for you, we suggest giving it three sessions for a fair shot.

Until you are satisfied with the outcome. Each person will have different counseling goals so there is no solid answer to this question. Traditionally, short therm counseling can be about 3 months while longer term counseling can be months or even years. However, our goal is not to keep you in counseling forever. We want you to thrive and grow without us. We are just one step in your journey.

Absolutely. This is one of our ethical and professional standards and a key component of counseling. Everything you say in a counseling session is completely confidential. The only exception to that is if you sign a release of information for your clinician to share information with someone else, if we deem you are a harm to yourself or others, if we suspect child or elder abuse, or if we are required to release information by a court of law.

In order to become a fully licensed counselor, there are many state and national requirements. A counselors must first complete a Master’s Degree and an additional two years and 3,000 hours of supervised practice to obtain an unrestricted license. Our clinicians are licensed in multiple states and hold additional certifications in their areas of specialty. We are Nationally Certified Counselors (NCC), and Certified Anxiety Treatment Professionals (CATP). Check our bio’s for more information on our certifications.
